Welcome to The Magic of Capitola en Plein Air!

UPDATE from your event committee 11/8/15, 11pm:  We finally have a moment to publish our list of talented winning artists.

Congratulations to First Place winner, Charles Prentiss, second place winner Al Shamble, and Honorable Mentions to (L to R) Lupe Santos, Bill Kennann, Paul Fortis, Joe Ortiz, Karin Leonard, Mike Bailey, João de Brito, and Peggy Wynne Borgman (not pictured).

Amateur division winner was Hershel Abelman, with second prize going to Laura Grinder, and Honorable Mention to Geoffrey Nelson and Michael Armstrong. Good work!

UPDATE from your event committee 11/8/15, 10am: While we hoped it would wait one more day to arrive, we are finally getting that rain we need so badly. That means we are OFFICIALLY moving to  Capitola Community Center @ Jade Street Park, 4400 Jade Street, today from 12-6!

{10 – 2 pm} Watch artists paint all around Capitola!

Sunday, Nov 8
Esplanade Park Jade Street Community Center, 4400 Jade Street, Capitola

{12 – 6 pm} Buy original artworks from dozens of exhibiting artists, engage your creative side at the pop-up public art tent, enjoy live music, and more!

{2pm} Judge & curator Susan Hillhouse Leask presents A Brief History of Plein Air Painting.

{3 pm} Celebrate with us as prizes and ribbons are awarded in the pro and amateur divisions.

The winning entry will be added to the City’s permanent public art collection, and the artist awarded the top prize of $1,500! Second place in the pro division wins purchase prize of $750. The amateur winner takes home $100 cash.
